During the night of October 15 to 16, 2024, at the Dakar Port, the ship “Princess Jessica,” which was docked at Pier 2, capsized after it was struck by the MV Zografia.
As informed, there were no casualties following the incident. Immediately after the incident, port teams intervened to secure the area. A marking system was put in place, and administrative procedures were initiated in accordance with current regulations. The necessary measures to refloat the “Princess Jessica” will be quickly implemented.
To remind, the Greek-owned bulk carrier, Zografia, was attacked off the coast of Yemen in the Red Sea in January 2024. The Malta-flagged vessel was reportedly targeted and impacted with a missile while transiting northbound in the Red Sea, 76 nautical miles northwest of Yemen’s port city of Saleef.
According to a statement by Dakar Port, this accident has no impact on port activities, which continue as usual.
