On 1 July, Avikus and HD Hyundai ENT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Avikus headquarters in Seoul to advance the development of autonomous navigation technology.
As announced, both parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in two key areas: the application and operation of HiNAS products on actual vessels and comprehensive engineering collaboration across all domains related to autonomous navigation technology.
As the autonomous ship market is expected to continue its steady growth, securing core technologies and ensuring technological security are becoming increasingly important. Through strategic collaboration among group affiliates, we will strengthen our technological competitiveness and continue to support one another actively.
… stated Mansub Lee, CEO, HD Hyundai ENT.
In particular, the two companies plan to leverage each other’s human resources and infrastructure to advance autonomous navigation technology. To remind, in May 2025, Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) also partnered up with Avikus to install advanced autonomous navigation systems on two of its vessels, a bulk carrier and a suezmax tanker.
This agreement marks the starting point of synergistic collaboration among HD Hyundai affiliates to accelerate the commercialization of autonomous navigation technology. By combining HD Hyundai ENT’s system engineering capabilities with Avikus’ autonomous navigation expertise, we will enhance the completeness of the technology and set new standards for the industry.
