Bureau Veritas focuses on SOLAS Chapter III amendments, which will be applied on January 1, 2020, including requirements for maintenance, thorough examination, operational testing, overhaul and repair of lifeboats and rescue boats, launching appliances and release gear.
Specifically, the SOLAS amendments are to be applied by:
- lifeboats (including free-fall lifeboats), rescue boats and fast rescue boats;
- launching appliances and on-load and off-load release gear for lifeboats, also including primary and secondary means of launching appliances for free-fall lifeboats, rescue boats, fast rescue boats and davit-launched liferafts.
Accordingly, BV informs that from January 1, 2020, detailed examination, operational testing, repair and overhaul of the equipment explained above, should be conducted by service providers authorized by the ship’s Flag State Administration.
