Methanol Institute issued a video, focusing on the methanol’s potential as a clean fuel for various applications and how it can be used to meet the growing demand for energy.
It is known that methanol is being employed around the globe in several innovative applications.
As the Institute explained, methanol is a clean energy option that can be produced from natural gas, coal and a number of renewable resources including biomass, landfill gas and power plant or industrial emissions.
Currently, methanol is available at more than 100 ports around the world, reducing infrastructure costs for the marine industry to transition to methanol.
For the records, methanol reduces SOX by 99%, NOX by 60% and particulate matter by 95%.
To remind, methanol is an alternative which is sulphur free, has low emissions; perhaps three to four times cheaper than marine distillate fuel; and has a higher score on the International Martine Organization (IMO) energy efficiency design index (EEDI) than LNG or disel.
