According to Port of Houston, two crew members have lost their lives, and another has sustained injuries following a fire incident on a vessel at the Port , Texas, on 8th January 2024.
As informed, the fire, which occurred in the control room of a vessel at the Barbours Cut Terminal, has been successfully extinguished.
The Port of Houston has confirmed no additional injuries have been reported. The fire has been successfully put out, assuring no threat to the nearby community.
However, continuous monitoring of the vessel will be conducted by the Port Houston Fire Department for a minimum of 24 hours. Fortunately, no firefighters suffered injuries during the incident.
Investigations are underway at the scene, with the involvement of the Harris County Fire Marshall, Medical Examiners, U.S. Coast Guard, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
