The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) rescued a captain that was almost 18 hours adrift at sea off Pulau Panjan, after being informed that the captain fell from the merchant ship MV Harbour Naptune.
Specifically, local news reported that the captain was found floating in the middle of the sea wearing a safety jacket.
Moreover, it is added that the captain fell overboard in the evening of the 18 April, but the crew did not notice him missing until the following morning when the ship was about to berth at Pintu Gedung, in Port Klang, Malaysia.
Thus, the MMEA issued a statement according to which “a search and rescue operation was launched after receiving a complaint from the ship’s agent that the captain had gone missing while the ship was on its way from Pasir Gudang Port to Port Klang.”
The captain had no injuries from the fall and was tested for COVID-19, with the results coming back negative. However, it is stated that the captain will undergo quarantine.
