Transport Malta's MSIU issued an investigation report on the collision and subsequent foundering of the fishing vessel 'Mohammed Badry' off Tunisia in July 2018 that killed one fisherman. The report stresses that the attention of the bridge look-outs on both vessels was likely directed elsewhere.

Transport Malta's MSIU issued an investigation report on the fatal fall of a crew member onboard the general cargo ship 'MV Altenavi' while underway in the Black Sea. The safety investigation identified missing physical and symbolic barrier systems inside the cargo hold from where it is believed that the seafarer fell.

Transport Malta published a circular drawing the attention of all concerned to the reporting obligations contained in the Merchant Shipping (Taxation and Other Matters Relating to Shipping Organisations) Regulations. Shipping organizations falling within the scope of regulation 4(4) of these Regulations and approved as such, must submit an annual declaration to the Commissioner for Revenue.

Transport Malta's MSIU issued an investigation report on the fatality of a stevedore onboard the bulk carrier 'A Navigation', while in the port of Kelang, Malaysia, on 1st April 2018. The incident stressed hazards associated with enclosed space entry. 

Transport Malta issued a report on the collision between the general cargo ship 'Britannica Hav' and the fishing vessel 'Z121 Deborah', in the English Channel in March 2018. The report found that a close quarter situation progressed to an extent that the collision between the two vessels became inevitable.
