Two oil tankers were hit in a suspected attack in the Gulf of Oman Thursday morning, increasing alarmingly oil prices, amid an ongoing tension in the Middle East. The incident comes only a month after a similar incident in which four tankers in the region were struck.

The Norwegian Maritime Authority informs that in light of the sabotage act against four vessels off Fujairah port, the Maritime Security (MARSEC) adjusted the security levels in the area to ISPS1 and advise shipowners to carefully consider measures from ISPS2.

Both types of delivery method are more likely to happen when vessels are near stationary or in a very restricted waterway.

TankerTrackers informed that there might be oil spill after the sabotage attack on the Saudi VLCC supertanker, Amjad. The alleged sabotage attack took place off United Arab Emirates territorial waters in the Gulf of Oman. The ship, Amjad, may was empty of crude oil, but it was carrying fuel oil onboard. The oil spill is no less than 235 barrels.

As Reuters reports, London's marine insurance market plans to meet on Thursday to discuss whether it is necessary to change the risk level for vessels in the Gulf after an attack on ships off the United Arab Emirates earlier this week. Yet, this move will increase insurance premiums.
