Kongsberg Maritime has secured a contract with Capital Group in Greece to deliver K-Sim Engine Room and Cargo simulators for their training center on the Greek island of Chios.
The delivery, scheduled for completion by the end of June 2025, will include both K-Sim Engine Room and Cargo Handling Simulators. This collaboration follows the announcement in January of a partnership between Capital Group and FORCE Technology to develop Europe’s first Extended Reality (XR) Full Mission Bridge simulator.
The new simulators will incorporate K-Chief automation systems, which are already in use on Capital Group’s tankers and LNG gas carriers.
The contract was awarded due to Capital Group’s implementation of the K-Chief 600 and K-Chief 700 automation systems across its fleet. This integration of onboard automation with simulation technology is designed to ensure effective training and operational readiness.
Captain Ioannis Tsirigos from Capital Ship Management (Chios Branch) highlighted the importance of the investment, stating that simulation training was a critical component of their crew development strategy. He explained that the ability to train on familiar automation systems, such as K-Chief 600 and K-Chief 700, ensured that their personnel gained hands-on experience, which in turn improved safety, efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
Additionally, on April 1st, 2025, Kongsberg Maritime merged its onboard systems and simulation technology, further enhancing its training solutions.
