On January 13, the pipelay vessel Star Centurion capsized and partially sank in the Singapore Strait after a collision with a product tanker. All 22 crewmembers evacuated safely, and no casualties were reported.
Mainly, the collision took place at an anchorage off Bintan Island, Indonesia, near the eastern entrance to the strait.

AIS tracking data addressed that the Centurion was not moving and was at anchor when the incident took place. The other vessel was the 40,000 dwt product tanker Antea, which was getting under way for Ambon, Indonesia.
According to the Antea’s ship manager, no pollution or injuries have been reported from either vessel.
Finally, the Star Centurion, ex name Lewek Centurion, is a heavy S-lay pipelay vessel capabile of handling up to 42-inch-diameter coated pipe.
