United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) received on 11 May a report of an incident 80NM northwest of Jebel Ali, UAE, where a small craft collided with a vessel.
According to UKMTO, the Master reported that a small craft collided with the vessel and was seen attempting to collide with other vessels in the area.
In addition, crew from the small craft was seen transferring safely to another small craft. The merchant vessel remained on scene for some time before proceeding to next port of call.
The MV later experienced VHF messages from an entity claiming to be local authorities requesting them to stop and enable representatives of the claimed authority to board the MV. As stated, all crew are safe and well.
UKMTO advises vessels to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity.
