In an update on the impact of last week’s earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria, Group Club North stated that ports and shipping in the region were still impacted.
Specifically, according to updates on February 13, North Club’s correspondents, Vitsan Mümessillik ve Müşavirlik A.Ş, further advise that BP Azerbaijan had suspended the loading of Azerbaijan petroleum product through the BTC line (Baku – Tiflis – Ceyhan line) at Botas Terminal – however, the loading operation of vessels through BTC line at Botas Terminal is now in progress and the first tanker vessel berthed on 12 February 2023.
The status of Iskenderun ports remains the same, except the ports of Atakas and Tosyali have allowed some vessels to complete the cargo operations that had been suspended. The cargo operation status of these ports after this is uncertain.
Meanwhile, it is reported that operations at the Limak Iskenderun port have resumed, following a fire that broke out in the region. The Turkish Maritime Authority announced on Friday, February 10th, that more than 1,000 containers that had caught fire were being separated. The authority also stated that port rehabilitation would begin immediately.
