Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) is actively working to decrease the environmental impact of its activities and reduce the use of energy and natural resources. The company is committed to complying with all applicable environmental regulations and, in keeping with its front runner ambition, WWL aims to be that vital step ahead of existing and emerging requirements by implementing innovative solutions.
WWL has published its Sustainability Report for 2015 which focuses on the actions that the company has taken in order to reduce the consumption of energy and natural resources per transported product, as well as the overall environmental impact of its activities.
Highlights of the report
- Since 2005, WWL has reduced CO2 per unit transported by about 20 per cent (average of past five years).
- WWL continues to improve reporting capability for land-based business. The number of reporting sites increased from 24 sites in 2014 to 27 sites in 2015. According to current reports, this resulted in total emissions of 9,212 tonnes of CO2, a 15 per cent decrease.
- As of 1 March 2016, WWL has introduced a new policy limiting sulphur content in fuel at berth to <0.1 per cent. WWL achieves this by shifting to MGO or using scrubbers.
