V.Ships France has inked a Ship Management Agreement with Eastaway France, a subsidiary of X-Press Feeders, for the technical management of four methanol-powered dual fuel vessels.
These vessels, with a capacity of 1,170 TEU each, are set to sail under the French Flag and will operate primarily across Europe. The first vessel is scheduled for delivery from the shipyard in the summer of 2024, with the final one expected by mid-September 2024. Notably, these vessels will be the first of their kind to be operated under the French Flag.
Thierry Sarazin, Managing Director of V.Ships France, expressed enthusiasm about the agreement, highlighting their expertise in dual fuel operations and commitment to service excellence. He emphasized the opportunity to enhance their capabilities in managing methanol-powered vessels and training seafarers accordingly.
Jean-François Luiggi, Managing Director of Eastaway France Ship Management, echoed Sarazin’s sentiments, emphasizing the collaboration’s importance in advancing sustainable shipping practices. Luiggi expressed confidence in V.Ships’ ability to ensure efficient vessel operation, underscoring their joint commitment to pioneering a new era of sustainable shipping.
X-Press Feeders plans to launch its first feeder services using dual-fuel vessels powered by green methanol on specific routes, starting in the third quarter of 2024. These routes include Rotterdam-Antwerp Bruges-Riga-Klaipeda-Rotterdam and Rotterdam-Antwerp Bruges-Helsinki-Tallinn-Kotka.
Currently, V.Ships France manages six dual fuel vessels, including those powered by LPG and LNG, showcasing their extensive experience in this field. They also handle LNG bunkering operations for two LNG bunker vessels, further solidifying their position in the realm of sustainable shipping management.
To remind, in February, Evergreen Marine Corporation (Evergreen) has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with X-Press Feeders, to place its containers on X-Press Feeders’ new dual fuel green methanol vessels.
