The US Coast Guard responded to a boat collision that resulted to four injured passengers aboard two vessels on Sunset Lake near Wildwood, Monday, July 15. The injured passengers were transmitted to Schooner Island Marina where local EMS were standing by to provide assistance.
Specifically, Coast Guard watchstanders from Delaware Bay received the distress call of the accident from a good Samaritan vessel at around 8:30 p.m.
Thus, in the area of the collision a 29-foot Response Boat-Small boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Cape May launched to provide its assistance, and transferred two of the four persons aboard, while another two were taken aboard by a Tow Boat US vessel.
Chief Warrant Officer Daniel Capestany, Command Duty Officer for the Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay Command Center commented
We effected a very quick response to the collision thanks to the timely report made by a good Samaritan. Having the ability to call the Coast Guard in a critical moment can be the difference between life and death in some cases.
Concluding, the injured passengers were rapidly taken to Schooner Island Marina, where they were carefully assisted by local EMS.
