DP World along with DoverTower shake their hands in order to jointly bid to privatize Haifa Port on the Mediterranean, as Reuters reported.

Amid COVID-19 pandemic and the crew change crisis that has presented within the shipping industry, Dubai Maritime City Authority decided to allow the resumption of crew change in the ports and waters of The Emirate of Dubai.

Although the COVID-19 outbreak has brought several impacts concerning cargo operations, the Dubai-based port and terminal operator, DP World managed to keep its volume stable during the first quarter of 2020. 

Dubai-based port operator DP World informed of a third quarter decline in cargo handled across its global portfolio, with volumes in Dubai falling for a sixth consecutive quarter. Releasing figures for the third quarter of 2019 on Tuesday, the port operator said it handled 18 million TEU containers in its ports, 1.6% down compared to the same period one year ago.

Dubai Customs seized 274,000 Captagon pills, halting a drug smuggling attempt. According to the Customs, Captagon is said to be the 'amphetamine fueling Syria's war' or the 'Jihadists' drug.' The smuggles had hidden the drugs in the fuel tank of their vessel, believing that inspectors will not search in that hot spot of the vessel near the engine which can reach up to 60 degrees Celsius. 

Emirates Global Aluminium announced the arrival of the first fully-laden Capesize vessel to call at any GCC port at its quay at Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi. This milestone marks the start for the import of bauxite for EGA’s new Al Taweelah alumina refinery using these bulk cargo vessels.

During the Nor-Shipping Conference in Oslo, the 'Dubai Maritime Virtual Cluster' platform has gained attention, being a platform that adapts to innovation and technological advances, to serve the Maritime cluster. The platform is generally supported by global maritime industry pioneers, as it provides a portal with information and knowledge.

DNV GL in cooperation with Menon Economics published the report "The Leading Maritime Capitals 2019". The report provides insight on which maritime cities provide the best support for companies in shipping and related services. Singapore retained the first position from 15 maritime capitals. Singapore ranked first in three of the five pillars of the ranking: Shipping; Ports and Logistics; and Attractiveness and Competitiveness.

DP World announced that it plans investing heavily in Kazakhstan’s port and logistics infrastructure as it looks to enhance the supply chain across central Asia and accelerate the Caspian Sea into a hub of global trade hub. Thus, the company signed two agreements with the Kazakhstan government.

Carrefour by the shore will be operational six days a week, also depending on weather conditions and will be capable of serving yacht customers, jet skiers and even beach goers. The floating supermarket will cater customers on jet skis, small and larger vessels. There is also an Aqua Pod application that customers can download to order online.
