French container ship giant CMA CGM announced launch of CMA CGM eSolutions, an entirely digital eco-system comprising an online agency and other e-commerce channels such as Electronic Data Interchanges (EDI) and Application Programming Interfaces (API).

CMA CGM completes tender to acquire CEVA Logistics

French shipping giant CMA CGM announced successful completion of its public tender offer to acquire Swiss CEVA Logistics. Following the close of the public tender offer launched on 12 February, CMA CGM will hold 97.89% of the outstanding shares and voting rights of CEVA.

CMA CGM combines Containerships and MacAndrews

French shipping giant CMA CGM Group combined its two experts in intra-European multimodal transport, Containerships and MacAndrews, under the Containerships brand. The brand now offers 26 maritime services and 8 inland services operated through a fleet of 32 vessels and 700 trucks.

CMA CGM orders ten new container vessels from China

CMA CGM ordered 10 15.000 TEUs container ships. Five of them fuelled by LNG, and five with scrubbers, from China State Shipbuilding Corporation.The vessels will be delivered from 2021, to replace 10 other vessels. They will also be used on the Asia-Mediterranean lines.

CMA CGM and partners achieve successful trial on marine bio-fuel oil

IKEA Transport & Logistics Services, CMA CGM, the GoodShipping Program and the Port of Rotterdam announced the successful refuelling of the CMA CGM White Shark with sustainable marine bio-fuel oil. On March 23, CMA CGM announced that the refuelling trial was successful.

IKEA, CMA CGM, GoodShipping Program to test marine bio-fuel oil

IKEA Transport & Logistics Services, CMA CGM, the GoodShipping Program and the Port of Rotterdam will collaborate in a first of its kind partnership to test and scale the use of sustainable marine bio-fuel oil. The test will begin with a bunkering of the marine bio-fuel oil on a CMA CGM container vessel on March 19th. If the pilot is successfully completed, then the intention would be to put the equivalent of at least all of IKEA’s containers out of Rotterdam on biofuel.

CMA CGM announces $1.2 billion cost reduction plan

Releasing its 2018 financial results, CMA CGM notes that in 2019, despite persisting geopolitical tensions, trade perspectives are positive. In addition, the company will also try to improve profitability. For this reason, it is launching a new USD 1.2 billion cost reduction plan. This will be achieved by the optimization of lines and rands, and by further streamlining its processes.

Port Tampa Bay welcomes CMA CGM’s container service

Port Tampa Bay welcomed CMA CGM Group’s announcement on beginning to serve Port Tampa Bay in late May 2019 on its Pacific Express 3, or PEX3 service.  The PEX3 port service rotation will be as follows: Singapore – Vung Tau – Hong Kong – Shekou – Ningbo – Shanghai – Busan – Panama Canal – Houston – Mobile – New Orleans – Tampa – Miami – Singapore. 

CMA CGM splits orders between LNG and scrubbers

In line with CMA CGM’s earlier announcement that it would opt for both LNG and scrubbers to achieve compliance with 2020 sulphur cap, the French shipping company has now set its newbuilding orders, split between the two options. 

Initiatives start to ease container congestion in Manila

Asian Terminals Inc. and six major shipping lines agreed on January 19 to collaborate and carry out initiatives to mitigate the current logistics challenges that are caused due to the buildup of empty containers at the Manila South Harbor. CMA CGM, T.S. Lines, Evergreen, Yang Ming Lines, Wan Hai Lines and Hyundai Maritime, will share vessel resources to clear empty containers in Manila
