Crowley Maritime Corporation has signed a long-term time charter with Shell providing for the building and operation of a new, U.S.-built, LNG bunker barge.

The American P&I Club shared best practices aiming to reduce the number of breakaways and other incidents from barge fleeting areas within the river systems of the US. 

Following the sinking incident of "Barge P305" off Mumbai, the Indian Navy informed that so far 188 of the 261 people who were on board, were rescued. https://twitter.com/indiannavy/status/1394944014915276808 To remind, Barge P305 sank on Monday 17th May, during the severe Cyclone Tauktae. Until now, as many as 26 personnel on board the barge are dead, while 49 still missing, after Navy personnel, battling extreme weather. In light of the situation, Indian Navy launched a fresh aerial search and rescue mission, deploying helicopters to scour the waters off Mumbai coast, where the accommodation barge P305 went adrift in Cyclone Tauktae fury before it sank Monday. "The Navy's Search and Rescue (SAR) operations entered the fourth day today. Naval ships and aircraft are presently undertaking SAR of the missing crew members of Accommodation Barge P-305, which sank on Monday 35 miles off Mumbai," ....a Navy spokesperson told to local media sources. Overall, ships & aircraft will continue to search for the missing crew members.

A major search and rescue operation is taking place in the Arabian Sea, after Barge P305, that was struck by cyclone Tauktae, has now been officially declared sunk.

Port of Amsterdam is working to improve its facilities and services. From 1 September 2020, barges with trackers are able to take berth in specially designated berth areas.

USCG recently gave its regulatory approval and design basis acceptance to the Quality Liquefied Natural Gas Transport (Q-LNG), for its two variants construction. Gaining this approval, the marine transportation company will have the ability to move forward with its construction plans. 

On Wednesday 13 February, the US Coast Guard along with several local authorities responded to a multi-barge breakaway close to the Upper Mississippi River. Specifically, the breakaway occurred near mile markers 176 and 177 of the river.

Officials are trying to refloat a barge that ran aground, damaging its hull on Quadra Island, British Columbia, on November 9. As Transport Canada informed, it is now considering a salvage plan, and when the barge is refloated, it will be towed to a facility near Campbell River for repairs.

Two new landing barges are launching in order to assist the work of Australia’s new icebreaker RSV Nuyina. The barges will be based onbroad the RSV Nuyina, along with three tenders to transfer the personnel and a scientific research tender. 

The US Coast Guard informed that it is responding after at least two barges struck the I-10 San Jacinto River Bridge near Channelview, Texas, on Friday, September 20. Namely, nine barges broke away from the moorings. At least two barges hit the bridge, which sustained significant damage to its concrete pilings.
