On 31 March a collision occurred in the Oder Lagoon near Chełminek Island, Poland, between the passenger ship Junker Jörg and the inland motor tanker Argonaut.
The collision caused significant bow damage to the Junker Jörg above the waterline, while the Argonaut sustained minor damage to its bow.
Fortunately, neither vessel reported any pollution or water ingress. Nine of the 97 passengers aboard the Junker Jörg were injured, including one person with head injuries who was subsequently hospitalized.
After the incident, both vessels proceeded to Szczecin, Poland, where they docked. In addition, authorities initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the collision.
Alcohol tests were conducted on both crews, with negative results.
