An ultra large container vessel (ULCV) collided with a small chemical tanker off the Port of Piraeus, Greece on September 26. According to initial information, two of the 13 crew of the tanker sustained injuries, while no injuries were reported on the container ship.
Specifically, the ULCV ONE Blue Jay collided with the tanker Gunece, off the Port of Piraeus, while the latter was berthed at the time.
According to sources, the container ship collided with the starboard side of the tanker, as it was entering the port.
After the collision, the tanker sustained major damages, with information reporting that two crewmembers were injured.
As for the container ship, no crew was reported injured.
What is more, responding to the incident, the port authority has reportedly sent several tugs to help the tanker, which tilted heavily as a result of the incident.
