According to International news, an accident occurred at the Çındemir Shipyard, a privately owned facility in Tuzla, east of Istanbul, in which a floating dock collapsed, with one of its cranes striking a bulk carrier named Osprey S.
As explained, while the vessel sustained damage, fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.
The cause behind the tilting and sinking of the dock remains unknown. However, the collapse of the dock seems to have occurred as its two sides came towards each other, collapsing both cranes attached to the structure.
As informed, one of the cranes toppled over, striking the bulker vessel Osprey S., which was moored alongside.
The vessel’s AIS signal confirmed that it has been at the shipyard since last October, being refurbished and repaired.
