On 11 September, in central Stockholm, the Swedish shipping company Thun Tankers held a naming ceremony for the green product tanker ‘Thun Venern’, its latest environmentally-friendly tanker capable of running on LNG.
The new tanker will enter into the Gothia Tanker Alliance, a leading European tanker network for coastal tankers.
Thun Venern is the second in a series of five resource efficient tankers built by Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding.
Being able to operate on biogas or LNG, the vessel has been designed with the aim of becoming the world’s most environmentally friendly tanker.
Gothia Tanker Alliance is now operating or has on order a total of thirteen dual fuel vessels that can operate with biogas or natural gas.
Thun Venern has been built with the latest design to meet and exceed the current and future environmental regulations. Thun Venern meets a high level of safety and efficiency requirements, low environmental impact and operated with biogas or natural gas,
