The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) published its 2019 Environmental Technologies and Practices Report, according to which cruise lines have provided up to $22 billion in vessels equipped with energy-efficient technologies and cleaner fuels. 

Cruise Lines International Association released the 2019 Asia Cruise Deployment and Capacity Report. In the report, the organization details Asia’s planned cruise activity in 2019, providing stakeholders with information to keep pace with the dynamic cruise industry in this area.

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and the City of Dubrovnik signed a Memorandum of Understanding to preserve and protect the cultural heritage of Dubrovnik through responsible tourism management. The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) released its annual Asia Cruise Industry Ocean Source Market Report, which analyzes the growth, demographics and trends of the top source markets in Asia. The report noted a record-breaking 4.24 million ocean-going cruise passengers in 2018.

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), the largest cruise industry trade organisation globally, published its 2018 global cruise passenger statistics. An almost 7% increase was seen from 2017 to 2018 in the cruising industry, reaching the 28.5 million passengers. According to CLIA, North American travellers continue embracing cruising, with an annual passenger increase of 9% (14.2 million passengers) in 2018.

A proposal to hit cruise lines with a new tax will add an unfair burden to the industry and drive up costs for both operators and passengers, Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia warned. The Association refers to Australia's Biosecurity Imports Levy, to be implemented by July 2019. 

Effective from 1st January 2019, Amsterdam, capital of the Netherlands and an attractive tourist destination, has applied a new tax on cruise passengers, triggering a wave of complaints by major cruise lines, as well as the largest cruise industry trade body.

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) announced that its Global Executive Committee has appointed Kelly Craighead as President and Chief Executive Officer as from 1 January 2019. Mrs. Craighead will be taking over the role currently held by Cindy D'Aoust, who in July of this year announced her intent to leave her position by year’s end.
