The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) announced that seven foreign flagged ships remained under detention in UK ports during July 2022 after failing Port State Control (PSC) inspection.
To remind, inspections of foreign-flagged ships in UK ports are undertaken by surveyors from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. When a ship is found to be not in compliance with applicable convention requirements, a deficiency may be raised. If any of their deficiencies are so serious, they have to be rectified before departure, then the ship will be detained. All deficiencies should be rectified before departure.
Ships detained in July 2022
#1 ELISE: The Antigua and Barbuda flagged vessel was detained on 02nd July at Grimsby, found with 13 deficiencies with 2 grounds for detention. Eventually, this vessel was released on 11th July 2022.
#2 TORO: The Liberia flagged vessel was detained on 5th July 2022 at Royal Portbury, found with 37 deficiencies with 8 grounds for detention. This vessel was still detained 31 July 2022.
#3 WILSON BLYTH: The Barbados flagged vessel was detained on 19th July 2022 at Greenock, found with 2 deficiencies with 2 grounds for detention. Eventually, the vessel was released on 22nd July 2022.

#1 LIVA GRETA: The Liberia flagged vessel was detained on 24th June 2022 at Corpach, found with 5 deficiencies with 2 grounds for detention. This vessel was still detained on 31st July 2022.
#2 SHEARWATER: The Comoros flagged vessel was detained on 30th June 2022 at Leith, found with 7 deficiencies with 4 grounds for detention. This vessel was still detained on 31st July 2022.
#3 TEK: The Barbados flagged vessel was detained on 23rd May at Ipswich, found with 77 deficiencies with 15 grounds for detention. This vessel was still detained on 31st July 2022.
#4 POSEIDON: The Iceland flagged vessel was detained on 19th July 2018 at Hull, found with 10 deficiencies with 2 grounds for detention. This vessel was still detained on 31st July 2022.
#5 TECOIL POLARIS: The Russian Federation flagged vessel was detained on 6th June 2018 at Immingham, found with 27 deficiencies with 6 grounds for detentions. This vessel was still detained on 31st July 2022.
#6 CIEN PORCIENTO: The Sweden flagged vessel was detained on 4th March 2010, Lowestoft, found with 30 deficiencies including 7 grounds for detention. This vessel was still detained on 31st July 2022.
