South Korea’s largest shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries said it has halted production in its shipbuilding division from Thursday for safety checks, following the death of a worker on the job.
According to a spokesman from the company as cited by Reuters on Friday, the HHI man died due to severe burns during shipbuilding work, which led labour authorities to order halt of production.
The incident reportedly occurred on 23 January, but further details are yet to be revealed.
Hyundai Heavy said it planned to resume work after completing safety measures.
