A.P. Moller-Maersk announced that the new terminal in Rijeka, Croatia has received the first two of its four ship-to-shore (STS) cranes.
The new terminal, a joint venture between APM Terminals and its Croatian partner ENNA, is set to become operational in 2025 and is expected to become the gateway to the East Adriatic and Central Europe thanks to its strategic location.
The initiative was part of a recent campaign that engaged local residents through a survey. Additionally, the quay where the cranes are installed will be named the Square of Powerful Women of Rijeka. The cranes were manufactured by ZPMC and arrived by sea.
It is amazing to see the cranes finally here in Rijeka. After months of preparation, the rubber finally hits the road with gradual arrival of our new equipment. We are really starting to resemble the new terminal and gateway to the region, and it’s super exciting.
…said Peter Corfitsen, CEO, Rijeka Gateway.
