After an explosion took place on a Navy ship in San Diego on July 13, over a dozen sailors, as well as several civilian were taken to hospital.
According to local media, the fire broke out onboard the USS Bonhomme Richard. It gradually escalated to a three-alarm fire, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, which helped battle.
Because of the fire 17 sailors, along with four civilians, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. In addition, a defense official state that 19 firefighters have also suffered at least minor injuries.
What is more, all of the 160 sailors are accounted for, as well as all SDFD responders.
The origin of the fire appeared to be in the lower cargo hold of the ship. However, it is not clear what caused the explosion.
