The US Coast Guard released a warning for mariners, informing them for navigation dangers after about 70 cargo containers fell off of a cargo ship Saturday night, about 17 miles off Oregon Inlet, North Carolina.
Namely, the cargo ship Maersk Shanghai alerted watchstanders at Sector North Carolina’s command center via VHF-FM marine radio channel 16, informing them that they lost 70 to 73 cargo containers because of high winds and heavy seas.
The US Coast Guard urges all mariners transiting this area, to do so with caution.
Maersk Shanghai was heading to Charleston, South Carolina, from Norfolk Virginia.
