The USCG rescued on January 7, Tuesday, two fishermen from the water when their vessel sank in Pamlico Sound, North Carolina, both suffering from hypothermia, with one of the rescuees losing their life despite the efforts at resuscitation. The USCG is still looking for two more fishermen from the vessel.
Specifically, on Tuesday night watchstanders at the Coast Guard’s Fifth District command centre were informed by a distress signal from an EPIRB registered to the shrimp trawler Papa’s Girl.
Thus, the USCG sent a motor life boat crew from Station Hatteras Inlet, along with a helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City were launched to respond.
