Wilson has introduced Wilson Eyde, a new vessel using wind propulsion to enhance energy efficiency and reduce emissions in the transport of raw materials for aluminium production.
The vessel features wind-assisted propulsion including VentoFoils retrofitted from Econowind, and AI-driven fuel optimization significantly reducing fuel consumption. The vessel transports liquid pitch, a vital component in anode production, from suppliers in Europe to Hydro’s facilities in Norway.
Meeting tomorrow’s environmental requirements is crucial to our success. We are therefore committed and grateful to develop innovative solutions that not only reduce our environmental footprint but also strengthen our collaboration with partners such as Hydro,
… said Jostein Bjørgo, Commercial Director at Wilson.
Wilson Eyde began operations on April 14, serving Hydro’s production facility in Årdal, Norway. Named in honor of industrial pioneer Sam Eyde, Wilson Eyde replaces two older vessels.
