A tanker exploded in Thailand with the loss of one life. Namely, the Ampar 8 product tanker exploded on March 27, while mooring at the Bangchak depot the Chao Praya river.
At the time of the incident, the ship was carrying 3,000 tons of oil, and as a result a seafarer died and another three crew were injured.
After the explosion, the ship drifted downstream for about 5 km before it was able to anchor. Firefighters were able to tackle the fire after an hour.
According to initial police information, sparks erupted in the anchor windlass room before the explosion.
In a similar incident, another product tanker, the Smooth Sea 2, exploded on March 9.
