US Coast Guard Sector North Carolina deployed a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft – Shallow Water, from US Coast Guard Station Fort Macon and rescued all persons in the water and on the boat. The US Coast Guard then transported the survivors back to Station Fort Macon.
As Petty Officer 3rd Class James Sellers, the coxswain of the response boat informed, two of the three people in the water were wearing life jackets when USCG arrived on the incident scene.
However, he explained that:
Thinking that you can put on a life jacket right before you enter the water is dangerous. We recommend that you wear your life jacket while boating to be prepared in the event of an emergency.
