An Emirati-flagged cargo ship sank off Iran in the Persian Gulf due to bad weather. Rescuers recovered all 30 crewmembers except of one, which is still missing but presumed dead.
An operation recovered all but one of the 30 crewmembers of the Emirati-flagged roro Al Salmy 6, which capsized and sank in a storm off Iran on Thursday.
According to an official with the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), one crewmember is still missing but presumed dead. The rescue operation is currently trying find his body.
Al Salmy 6, owned by Dubai-based Salem Al Makrani Cargo, was carrying cars from Dubai to Umm Qasr port in southern Iraq.
In order to rescue the crew, 2 rescue vessels and helicopters were dispatched, consisting of nationals from Sudan, India, Pakistan, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia.
