The Philippine Coast Guard responds to a maritime incident involving the sinking of an unknown vessel in the vicinity waters of Barangay Cabcaben, Mariveles, Bataan.
At 5PM yesterday, 27 July 2024, three 44-meter Coast Guard vessels proceeded to the vicinity waters and confirmed the presence of the sunken vessel.
Coast Guard divers conducted an initial underwater assessment earlier and determined the identification of the vessel as – MTKR JASON BRADLEY.
Diving operations are ongoing to determine the status of the sunken vessel.
Coast Guard Station Bataan Commander, CG Lieutenant Commander Michael John Encina, reported that the sunken vessel is empty and does not carry any cargo.
The shipping company is currently organizing the necessary equipment for salvage operations, which are expected to be completed within one to two weeks.
