Titan LNG announced that it has taken the final investment decision for the FlexFueler1, the first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) bunkering pontoon in Europe. The pontoon will be located at Port of Amsterdam, where it is expected to give larger vessels access to LNG delivery in crucial ARA (Amsterdam – Rotterdam – Antwerp) region, acting as catalyst for increase in demand for LNG.
The solution is designed to have a fixed location to supply inland waterway vessels, but can also be navigated to larger sea-going vessels and safely supply LNG, while they load or unload their cargo. Therefore, it minimizes costs and maximizes operational efficiencies, while unlocking access to safe and quick LNG delivery in the key ARA region.
Except for the ARA region, other developing regions have shown interest for the FlexFueler LNG bunkering pontoon, as well, the company said.
Bureau Veritas has approved Titan LNG FlexFueler1, while Province of North-Holland has supported it. The operations are expected to begin in Q3 of 2018.
The company noted that it aims to promote and enhance the use of LNG as a marine fuel.
