The maritime industry in New Zealand is committed to working to empower women in the industry. For this reason, Maritime NZ Board commemorated this year’s World Maritime Day “Empowering women in the maritime community.”

Honoring the World Maritime Day, themed 'Empowering Women in the Maritime Community', CLIA presents some of its most important members of its team, raising awareness of the importance of diversity and gender equality in the cruise industry as well as highlight the significant contributions of women at the helm of cruise leadership.

The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) join forces for new video in celebration of this year’s theme for World Maritime Day 'Empowering Women in the Maritime Community', which is scheduled to be screened on Thursday September 26 at the IMO headquarters in London.

On 26 September, the global maritime community celebrates the annual World Maritime Day, under the theme "Empowering Women in the Maritime Community". Gender equality has been recognized as one of the key drivers to enhance diversity and therefore efficiency in the business world, and especially in the male-dominated shipping sector.

The third WMU International Women’s Conference, Empowering Women in the Maritime Community that took place in April 2019, launched its report presenting the women and their presentations that participated and also focusing on the conclusions drawn and future steps that should be taken to boost women in shipping.
