Verifavia Shipping has launched what it claims is "the world's first real-time Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) Dashboard to determine the operational efficiency and CII rating of ships over 5,000GT."

Julien Dufour, CEO, Verifavia Shipping, talked to GREEN4SEA about the major industry developments and challenges ahead with respect to the emissions regulatory framework. Enforcement of sulphur regulations, in combination with the coming into force of two emission monitoring systems, the EU MRV and the IMO DCS, are expected as the major challenges for shipping companies in 2018, according to Mr. Dufour.

Verifavia, announced an expansion of its offering, as it will now include global verification services for the Clean Shipping Index, an independent rating system of the environmental performance of ships and shipping companies. The CSI verification service will include EU MRV, IMO DCS, and CCWG verification.

Verifavia announced that it has fully certified VAF Instruments’ IVY Propulsion Performance Management system, under the EU's MRV regulation requirements. The system has been designed to automatically monitor and report voyages and streamlines both the EU MRV and IMO DCS compliance processes.

Verifavia announced today that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Liberian Registry to conduct IMO DCS and EU MRV verification services for Liberian-flagged vessels. The Liberian Registry is the second largest in the world, including more than 4,200 vessels.

StormGeo's shipping division announced that it has received its certification as an EU MRV supplier by Verifavia Shipping. Under its decision to monitor CO2 emissions from shipping, the EU requires ship-specific monitoring plans to be in place by August 31, 2017, including being compliant for Monitoring, Reporting and Verification.

Verifavia, which became the first globally accredited verifier to receive dual accreditation, announced that it now has over 1,000 ships and Monitoring Plans under assessment for compliance with the European Union’s Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification regulation.

Denmark-based DFDS announced that it has appointed Verifavia-Shipping, earlier this month, for the first step of the verification process of its MRV plan, under the EU MRV Regulation. The "Ark Germania" was the first DFDS ship to have its monitoring plan approved, last week.

Oldendorff Carriers has appointed Verifavia, to verify its fleet of vessels in line with the European Union’s Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification regulation. The EU MRV services include the assessment of monitoring plans and verification of carbon emission reports, according to the ISO 14065 standard and regulation 757/2015.

Nikolas Theodorou, Verifavia Shipping (Hellas) reminds that the Monitoring Plan is a mandatory requirement according to Article 6 of the EU MRV Regulation, and that it must be submitted to an independent accredited verifier before 31st August 2017 for assessment. The plan which compiles all the information on how the ship’s MRV system works, must be complete, accurate, relevant, and compliant.
