A crane collapsed at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding’s Yangzi Xinfu yard, on June 10, falling into a bulk carrier which was under construction at the time. The accident caused extensive damages to the ship, while two workers were injured, one of whom died. Yangzijiang Shipbuilding provided a comment into the incident, saying that the crane collapsed due to overweight lifting operations.

Greek shipping firm 'Star Bulk Carriers' announced its Q1 2019 financial results, presenting a net loss of $5.3 million during a challenging and seasonally weak period of the year, which included approximately 300 off-hire days for scrubber installations. 

The bulk carrier 'Persenk' collided with the cargo ship 'Ahmet Can' on Saturday, May 18, while sailing in the Marmara Sea. The incident took place between the Marmara island and the Port ofTekirdag, European Turkey. The vessels were both heading to the Dardanelles. According to local sources, both vessels suffered damages, after the collision.

The German Bureau of Maritime Casualty Investigation published its report on the Panama-registered bulk carrier Glory Amsterdam, which ran aground about 1.6 nm north of the German North Sea island of Langeoog. The BSU reported that the ship's command of the Glory Amsterdam had not unequivocally understood the Nordic's mission and legal basis upon which she was operating at the scene
