Standard Club released a statement according to which direct trade between Qatar and seven states, also known as ‘restricted states’, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Yemen, Libya and the Maldives remains restricted or prohibited.
Specifically, the Club highlights that the restriction has to do with the discharge of products originating from Qatar in one or more of the Restricting States, and discharge of goods originating from one or more of the Restricting States in Qatar.
In addition, Qatari-flagged vessels that are Qatari-flagged or Qatari-owned/operated are also subject to restrictions.
However, the restrictions will not affect situations where a discharge port sequence involves Qatar and one or more of the Restricting States. For instance, if a vessel was to discharge at a port in a ‘Restricting State’ followed by or preceded by discharge at a port in Qatar, this will not generally be banned by the Restricting States.
On the contrary, it is scheduled that when a vessel calls at a Qatari port and at a port in a restricting state, the members should firstly check the position with local agents and the club’s correspondents.
