The South Korean industry ministry has established a shipbuilding training center in Serang, Indonesia, aimed at equipping local workers with skills for job opportunities in Korea.
According to the Korean Times, this initiative will train approximately 30 to 40 workers over three months, covering areas such as welding, Korean language, and safety courses.
The project is the result of discussions that began in March between the Korea Offshore & Shipbuilding Association and the Indonesian labor ministry.
The ministry emphasized that the training program is designed to create competitive workers ready for deployment to Korean shipyards.
Additionally, the ministry plans to collaborate with other government bodies to streamline the work visa process and connect the training initiative with official development assistance programs.
