Liquid Wind, a Power-to-Fuel development company committed to reducing carbon emissions, moves forward with plans for one of the world’s first commercial-scale eMethanol facilities to be constructed in Sweden.
The company selected the Australian engineering company, Worley, to provide basic engineering services for the facility, to be built in Örnsköldsvik, on the northeast coast of Sweden. This will support the Liquid Wind Consortium to plan the efficient integration of the technology and the integration with the host power station, Övik Energi.
Worley’s experience is expected to support in designing a facility concept that can be efficiently replicated to establish 500 eMethanol facilities by 2050, in line with Liquid Wind’s ambition, the company said.

Worley, together with the consortium partners Alfa Laval, Carbon Clean, Haldor Topsoe, and Siemens Energy, will design a standardized and modular facility concept, that can be efficiently replicated and assembled for subsequent flagships. During the design phase, a digital twin will be established using a COMOS engineering database.

Construction of the first facility is planned for early 2022, with eMethanol available from early 2024.
