The Panama Canal achieved a new record on December 10, as the 5,000th neopanamax ship transited the canal. Namely, ‘COSCO Faith’, a 366 meters long container ship, transited the canal in a southerly direction from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean.
The neopanamax ‘COSCO Faith’ sailed through Panama Canal, heading from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean and become the 5,000th ship which transited the canal. The container ship is 366 meters long and 48.2 meters wide and has a capacity of 13092 TEUs.

The vessel COSCO Faith belongs to the Manhattan Bridge-AWE2 service of the Ocean Alliance and serves the route between Asia and the East Coast of the United States in both directions.

To date, around 51% of the Neopanamax vessels that have passed through the Panama Canal concerns the container ship industry, followed by 26% which are LPG type and another 10% that concerns LNGs.
Other vessels that have used the new locks are dry and liquid bulk carriers, vehicle carriers and passenger vessels.
