Hyundai Glovis has authorised an investment of $1.84 billion in order to develop the world’s biggest car carriers, each of which will have the ability to transport 10,800 cars.
The LNG dual-fuel PCTCs’ building order was given the green light by the board of directors of the corporation, as reported by international news. The company plans for the building of 12 vessels, each of which will have a jaw-dropping capacity of 10,800 units.
The vessels are expected to be delivered by the second half of 2027. According a statement made by the company, the goal of the investment is to acquire a fleet of LNG dual-fuel PCTCs, in order to meet tighter international environmental laws and stabilise fleet operations over the medium to long term.
Hyundai Glovis is not alone on its endeavour for LNG-fueled car carriers. Japanese shipping company NYK has already received six carriers of that kind, with the latest being delivered in late October.
