The Executive Director of New York and New Jersey confirmed that the head of the Port Authority has been positively tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) and has been self-quarantined.
Specifically, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo stated that Rick Cotton may have contracted the virus at one of the authority’s international airports.
In addition, the Port Authority issued a statement informing that for the time being Mr. Cotton remains asymptomatic and is in self-quarantine at his home, maintaining a full schedule. Also, any staff members that had been in close contact with him are also working from home, following the guidelines and protocols put in place by the New York State Department of Health.
It has been reported that Cuomo’s wife has been positively tested as well, after experiencing ‘mild symptoms’.
By Monday, New York has confirmed 142 cases, the majority of which are in Westchester County.
Concluding, the Governor announced that the state will begin the production of 100,000 gallons of its own branded hand sanitizer per week, and will distribute it to government agencies, schools, prisons and other organizations.
