The German offshore wind industry associations published a joint statement for the implementation of the special contribution of offshore wind energy for the development of a 2GW capacity, in light of the 2030 climate goals.
Namely, the statement was issued by politicians, authorities and associations, the BWO and other representatives of the industry, asking from the Government to raise the expansion targets and set up a reliable framework for the development of offshore wind.
Moreover, the interested parties highlighted the commissioning of additional projects of up to 2 GW of installed capacity before 2026 can be realized both technically and economically and from the point of view of the transmission system operators.

Also, the associations demand that the expansion targets should be raised to at least 20 GW by 2030, to achieve the environmental targets and 30GW by 2035 in the German parts of the North Sea and Baltic Sea.
Concerning the first half of 2019, Germany experienced a boost in its offshore wind industry, as its highest growth rate was achieved offshore with 30% to 12 billion kWh- compared to 9.2 billion kWh in first half of 2018.
