The US Coast Guard rescued four fishermen on Wednesday, November 14, after abandoning their boat off the coast of Rockland, Maine. The vessel was taking on water, as the captain of the ship reported.
The captain of the 76-foot fishing vessel ‘Aaron & Melissa II’ informed the SU Coast Guard Sector Northern New England that the fishing boat was taking on water.
Aircraft helicopter aircrews were deployed from US Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod and spotted the raft and fishermen. A rescue swimmer was also deployed from the helicopter and hoisted all four fishermen to the helicopter.
The aircrew landed at Brunswick Executive Airport in Brunswick, Maine, where they were met emergency medical service personnel and transported to Mid Coast Hospital.
The fishermen were in good condition.
According to reports, the weather had 20-foot seas, 30-knot winds, and the water temperature was 50 degrees.
