US Coast Guard and partner agency crews responded to the ferry after receiving reports from the crew that the passenger vessel became stuck on a sandbar while operating near Wind Hole Point, Jamaica Bay.

Sector New York issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched two boatcrews from US Coast Guard Station New York, along with a marine inspector and investigating officer to conduct assessment to the vessel.
Station New York boatcrews arrived on scene along with New York City Fire Department and New York City Police Department marine units. The vessel was refloated and was escorted back to Manhattan, where all passengers were safely disembarked.
The US Coast Guard did not report any injuries or pollution. It is now investigating the cause of the grounding, while a USCG marine inspector will carry out an assessment of the vessel’s condition before it can resume passenger operations.
