Five members on a bulk carrier were hospitalized in Sydney after suffering injuries in an explosion on their vessel.
As Canada Steamship Lines reported, at the beginning of the week, two crew members suffered slight burns on their hands and faces, while three experienced superficial injuries when methane ignited in a carpenter’s workshop as the vessel was at anchorage at the Sydney harbor.
According to reports, a local boat was approached for help for medical evacuation post the explosion.
The injured crew were hospitalized, with one having already be released, with the other members expected to leave the hospital soon.
CSL Kajika that is moored in Sydney harbor after the explosion, did not suffer any structural damages.
The accident is now being investigated, while Transport Canada emptied the vessel in order to restart its operations.
