INEOS and Royal Wagenborg have signed a multi-year contract to build a new CO₂ carrier that will transport CO₂ to a storage site in Greensand.
The vessel, based on Wagenborg’s EasyMax design and constructed by Royal Niestern Sander, will support European carbon capture and storage (CCS) efforts by transporting CO₂ to the Greensand storage site in the Danish North Sea. The project is led by INEOS in partnership with Harbour Energy and Nordsøfonden.
Through INEOS and Wagenborg’s agreement, we’re not just advancing an industry – we’re charting a course toward a future where Dutch maritime expertise leads the way. This is our maritime legacy in action.
… said Egbert Vuursteen, CEO, Royal Wagenborg
Meanwhile, Edwin de Vries, director of Wagenborg Offshore, described the agreement between INEOS and Wagenborg as a significant new step toward establishing safe and efficient logistics across the full value chain of large-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS).
