On 28th January, a bulk carrier ship named “EN MAY” collided with a support pillar of a crucial road bridge linking Buenos Aires with Argentina’s northern Entre Rios province.
As informed, the impact led to the closure of the Parana River Waterway. The vessel was traveling at a speed of around 10 knots when it struck the bridge support.
The EN MAY is an 85,000 deadweight tonnage (dwt) bulker built in 2017 and operated by a New York-based company.
The reason for the collision is currently under investigation, although local maritime news source Paraguay Fluvial has suggested it might be due to a rudder failure.
